Ny “The Stylist” Kenya-Chamberlain is an award-winning natural hair stylist and curl enthusiast. She is a nationally licensed cosmetology educator with over 20 years of experience, including Aveda training and Deva certification. Ny is passionate about healthy hair and educating others about hair care and self care. She is a dynamic keynote speaker and has a captivating presence when hosting hands- on workshops for diverse groups–whether they are salon owners and stylists wanting to learn new curly hair skills, youth wanting to learn to care for their hair or women wanting to relax and take some time to care for themselves. As a master hair stylist and founder of one of the best natural hair salons in the DC, MD and VA area, her experience and commitment to quality is why she maintains a 5-star rating.
“The latter decade of my 20 + year hair career was in cosmetology school as an educator working to inspire the careers of young and hungry dreamers. I have been a part of the beginning story for hundreds of cosmetology students in the DMV area affectionately referred to as Miss Ny. Promotion into management eventually replaced Love for the craft and connection to the human spirit with corporate agenda and bottom lines.
Exhausted from my eight-year corporate climb, I decided to start over. I missed the connection afforded me as a Stylist. out of survival I found a small 200 square foot space in downtown DC on recommendation from a former student.
My first day of work for NY THE STYLIST LLC was just me in a 200 square-foot space, with a borrowed mirror and shampoo from my shower!
On Day 2 I began building my brand brick by brick, relationship by relationship. On my first day, I had two clients. In two months’ time, word of mouth turned 2 into 200.
Guests began to clamor about the great experience.”

Here, we embrace the differences, the things that make us unique and call them beautiful. Today, we are 1300 clients strong and growing. We maintain 80% retention from 90% referral.
